Since classes ended in April, we’ve been working hard to bring about the kind of transformation that students and staff told us they want to see at Fennell Campus. We’ve made tremendous progress towards creating a great learning environment for students. One of the most dramatic changes will be found in the C-Wing between E and I-Wings.
Through the expansion of this space we were able to create a significant “Learning Hub.”
The area will be wireless and provide students with places to gather, work or collaborate on projects with faculty or classmates. In this area, students and staff will also find Learning Hubs and peer tutoring services. The new Learning Hubs will offer more computers and will aim to support information, technology and media literacy for Mohawk students.
Academic Districts
One of the objectives of the Fennell Campus Renewal is to create “academic districts” or schools. The first wing to undergo consolidation is the A-Wing, which has become the School of Human Services. This summer, we enhanced the A-Wing’s main level corridor and classrooms to accommodate the schools requirements.
Preparations are also under way to accommodate a consolidated testing centre in A-Wing.
Cafeteria
Renovations to an expanded cafeteria are progressing rapidly and are expected to continue throughout September. The new cafeteria will feature new food concepts, a variety of seating areas and a more efficient system of payment.
